A Message from Biomeme on World Health Day

Every year the World Health Organization (WHO) celebrates World Health Day on April 7th and takes the opportunity to draw attention to a specific health topic of concern to people all over the world. This year WHO is focused on “Our planet, our health” and imagining a world where we come together, in the midst of a pandemic, to understand how we must also work together to create societies that prioritize the rising demands of a planet struggling with many overlapping global needs. These imperative needs span across animal health, environmental health, and the urgent actions needed to keep humans and the planet healthy.

The global COVID-19 pandemic has made it clear, now more than ever, there is a need for change in the way we think about the health of humans, animals, and how we interact with the environment at large.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), One Health is a collaborative, multi-sectoral, and transdisciplinary approach—working at the local, regional, national, and global levels—with the goal of achieving optimal health outcomes recognizing the interconnection between people, animals, plants, and their shared environment.

One Health is a framework for solving problems in an interconnected society that improves the well-being of all its members. One Health is planetary health and Biomeme’s vision is to empower anyone, anywhere to realize One Health. This recognition of how interconnected animal, human, and environmental issues are is so important to us we named our subsidiary CLIA certified lab network One Health Labs.

As we celebrate World Health Day and start taking steps toward the future, we aspire to advance our decentralized molecular test solutions to revolutionize diagnostics in diverse settings that all converge at the intersection of this concept of One Health. On World Health Day, we want to highlight the guiding force behind Biomeme’s mission, and we look forward to continuing in designing, developing, and providing molecular testing solutions to make the world a better place for “Our planet, our health.”
