The Biomeme SARS-CoV-2 Starter Kit is an all-inclusive solution that can be used to detect the RNA of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), also known as "2019-nCoV" or "Wuhan coronavirus." Two RNA targets for the novel coronavirus are multiplexed together with Biomeme's process control assay for RNA extraction and RT-PCR (MS2). Assay targets include:
- SARS-CoV-2-Orf1ab gene
- SARS-CoV-2-Spike gene
- RNA Process Control (RNA extraction and RT-PCR control utilizing MS2 bacteriophage)
Biomeme’s SARS-CoV-2 Test is a multiplex assay intended for qualitative detection of RNA from SARS-CoV-2 in nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal (throat) swab samples. The test utilizes Biomeme’s M1 Sample Prep Cartridge for RNA extraction, Biomeme’s SARS-CoV-2 Go-Strips assay, and Biomeme’s portable Franklin™ Real-Time qPCR Thermocycler. Franklin’s companion mobile app, Biomeme Go, scans tests, runs your PCR experiments online or offline, and is used to quickly interpret your test results while conveniently syncing your data to the Biomeme Cloud.

Max Perelman is a co-founder here at Biomeme where he leads business and operations. Prior to founding Biomeme over 6 years ago, Max spent 15 years in a range of industries, including: environmental consulting and green building technology, eCommerce and enterprise systems development, and management consulting. After launching his career in San Francisco, Max lived in Asia for almost a decade, leading projects in Hong Kong, Beijing, Bangkok, and Tokyo. He has a BA from Cornell University and an MBA/MAIEP from the Monterey Institute of International Studies.
